Fire Door Installation

There is a legal requirement for manufacturers of fire doors to demonstrate the ability of their products to resist the passage and spread of fire. However, if they are not properly installed, their fire resistance capabilities can be seriously compromised. The BM TRADA Q-Mark Fire Door Installation scheme has been designed to provide reassurance to specifiers, contractors, and end-users that the product they have chosen has been installed correctly and that it should perform as intended.

Fire Stopping Installation

Where services such as water, gas, electrics or communications penetrate through a building’s fire-resistant compartment lines, it is vitally important to ensure that the hole is appropriately sealed with a suitable fire stopping solution. Both the Building Regulations and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order (RRFSO) require that the person fitting fire-stopping products is competent to do so and third-party certification is the accepted means of demonstrating competency.

Fire Door Maintenance

Equally as important as the BM TRADA Q-mark Installation scheme, the BM TRADA Q-mark Maintenance scheme gives us the authority to use tried and tested Approved Repair Techniques (ARTs) on any existing non-compliant fire doors to bring them back to the condition and fire rating they were originally intended to have. The use of accredited contractors under this scheme will leave clients reassured their fire doors will perform as intended following inspection and maintenance procedures. Use of these ARTs gives us as a BMTrada 3rd Party Certified Company the scope to repair a fire doorset where other contractors would have to condemn and replace.
